Since 2015, the Ecostar Awards have brought together more than 1,400 community members and recognized over 360 businesses, organizations, and individuals. Over the past 11 years, the awards have become a flagship Island event – fostering connections, showcasing leadership, and celebrating the people and organizations advancing sustainability across Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands.

Can I apply if I have won in the past?
Yes! If you have previously won, be sure to clearly state the progress of existing initiatives or new initiatives introduced since winning your last Ecostar Award. What makes this year’s application different?
Can I apply for more than one award?
Yes, you can apply for up to two awards. Please submit a separate application for each category and clearly explain why your organization is applying for that specific award.
What time commitment does the application require?
Give yourself enough time to tell your story. Most businesses spend approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour completing their application.
Who reviews the applications?
Applications are reviewed by an independent panel of judges who evaluate submissions based on clarity, alignment with the award category, demonstrated impact, innovation, and commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI).
Do you have any application tips?
Yes! Strong applications include specific examples and measurable outcomes. If possible, include details such as timelines, partnerships, results, or other evidence that demonstrates the impact of your initiatives and gives judges a clearer picture of your work.
